MX LONELY, the Brooklyn-based heavygaze group, brought their ALL MONSTERS album release tour to Atlanta’s The EARL on March 11th. The band, originally known as v0id b0ys, rebranded to their new moniker in 2022 and have now ventured across the US to debut a record to their fans.

The group first began making music in 2019, after founding members met each other in Alcoholics Anonymous, and have worked in tandem for years, releasing three full-length LPs prior to this most recent one. They are clearly influenced by grunge and shoegaze, drawing inspiration in different places from some of their favorites like Elliott Smith, Pixies, and Deftones. ALL MONSTERS sees the group lean into capturing their raw live sound and spirit.

Rae Haas, lead singer and keyboardist, is a ball of energy that pumped fans up throughout the set and never let the created power die. Jake Harms, guitarist, took part in some singing duties and filled out Haas’ higher vocals with nice harmonies. Bassist Gabriel Garman and drummer Andrew Rapp also brought a forcefulness to the band’s already weighty sound.

Just a few songs in, Haas jumped down from the stage, running in circles around the crowd before collapsing to the floor and getting right back up again. She moved around constantly throughout their performance while her bandmates held down the music.

MX LONELY brought a loud, fun show to Atlanta this run and one can expect to see the noisy grunge/shoegaze outfit continue to grow in the years to come.
