Model/Actriz, the four-piece rock band from Brooklyn by way of Boston, took to Buckhead Theatre’s stage on February 24th opening up for Peaches. Both sets were filled with an overflow of energy and a number of outfit changes. The crowd was a melting pot of raucous characters that sought a special night of deafening music and dancing—and in the acts who performed, they found just that.

Model/Actriz released their sophomore record, Pirouette, on May 2nd of last year. It saw the band expand on what they are known for and do best: caustic post-punk with an edge of sexy danceability. This along with its theme of desire made for an all-consuming live set.

The band’s performances are known for being mighty sights, with lead singer Cole Haden leading the audience to movement and exhilaration. He began the set with Pirouette-opener “Vespers,” making sure to glide across the stage and give every bit of the crowd attention. And if after that they still were not satisfied, Haden then got down into the pit, microphone in hand, to deliver part of the set among his fans. Model/Actriz, dipping into old hits and new songs alike, kept their intensity up throughout and readied the crowd into a frenzy for the headliner.

I can indeed say I have never seen anyone like Peaches perform before that night, and I, now, wouldn’t have it any other way. From the moment she stepped on stage, clad in the most curious costume, she commanded the eager audience with her confident presence. She made many an outfit change while rifling through tracks like “F**k the Pain Away” and “Hanging T*****s”.

Having released No Lube So Rude, her first album in over a decade, mere days before this show, I was excited to see what the imposing performer had to behold in this new era of hers. The record and the set at Buckhead both shared an unwavering conviction and gall to be truly free. I can easily say Peaches and Model/Actriz bring everything they have to their shows and deliver something that can only be described as unparalleled.
