REVIEW: The Kid LAROI Takes Coca-Cola Roxy to "A Perfect World"

The pop-rap superstar spins tracks from BEFORE I FORGET on his latest tour
Stopping through Atlanta on his A Perfect World Tour, The Kid LAROI had Coca-Cola Roxy singing through his catchy yet honest pop-rap catalog for the whole night. With immersive stage-production and camera-work, fans were able to step into LAROI’s world and feel his latest release on a deeper level.
With how visual-heavy LAROI’s brand and aesthetic has been since day one, my expectations were high for what he had in store for this new tour. Needless to say, it even exceeded what I had in mind. From the actors on stage in between each act of the night to the flashing visuals of song lyrics and cloudy skies, you never knew what was next for the screen-based stage. I want to highlight the excellent camerawork for the tour as well. Switching back and forth between an intimate, personal look at the stage to “screenmaxxing” visual filters that fit their accompanying song, it combines the standard style of filming seen at shows with a step into the new trends of today.
The setlist pulls heavily from his latest release, BEFORE I FORGET, and its recent deluxe edition. These songs have quickly become fan favorites, with the singles for the album (namely the bonus track “I CONDEMN”) being a particular blast for those in the moshpit. LAROI doesn’t miss the classics, though, and makes sure they’re enhanced in the live setting. His collaborations with Lil Tecca (“DIVA”) and JuiceWRLD (“GO”) had the room belting the rapper’s guest verses, along with the latter being met with “Long Live Juice” chants. The singer was joined by Love on the Spectrum’s own Connor Tomlinson onstage for the Bieber-assisted hit “STAY.” A heartwarming moment for both The Kid LAROI and Connor, the crossover was met with very positive reception from ATL fans.
Ending the evening with “NIGHTS LIKE THIS,” LAROI left the audience still in awe of his expansive and vibes-heavy discography. It’s always a great time seeing an artist and their fans each giving it their highest energy, and this was no exception. For the fans, young and old, at the show (some of which had seen him multiple times), this night in Atlanta only strengthened their love for The Kid LAROI’s artistry, lyricism, and style.
