On August 8th, the summer interns from the ever-iconic Atlanta venue, The Masquerade, came together to host their “Join our Jam” event. Three local talents took to the stage to show of their unique blend of genres as they continue to make their names known within Atlanta’s music scene.

First to take the stage was the sole DJ of the night, DARKSOULSTHUG. A namesake that references Hidetaka Miyazaki’s infamous “Dark Souls” game series, showing the artist’s love for gaming not only in name, but sonically as well. DARKSOULSTHUG regularly incorporates themes from various games and anime into his mixes, weaving them into rhythms of pop and hip-hop, keeping the crowd guessing and keeping them energized throughout the set.

Next up, we have two bands each bringing their own unique style to the stage. Arbre Day starts us off as a group of friends from Atlanta that bring a soothing mix of alternative rock and R&B that brings crowds together. The charismatic trio created a welcoming environment for all those who attended, manifesting camaraderie and inspiring others to dance along to their sound. With spirits high, we were ready to witness the final act of the night.

Karma Kat was the last of the three wonderful acts brought to us by the interns over at The Masquerade. Hailing from Athens, GA, the quartet brought forth an upbeat combination of rock and jazz that can only be described as deeply charming. The energy from the band carried a hearty friendliness and it showed in the way they interacted with the crowd. It was the perfect way to wrap up this showcase featuring such blossoming talent here in the heart of Atlanta. To the interns: I want to extend my thanks and congratulations on a great show. As for the performers, I cannot wait to see where your creativity takes you next.
